Pasco County Makes Largest Land Purchase YET!
~~4G Ranch acquisition expands protected lands to 8,600+ acres~~

PASCO COUNTY, FL  ----  It’s a BIG win for Pasco County conservation!  Our Environmental Lands Acquisition and Management Program (ELAMP), in a 50/50 partnership with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), is proud to announce the acquisition of 4G Ranch –  a 1,893-acre property marking our largest land purchase to date.

“Acquisitions mean we can slow down a lot of growth and development,” says Board Chair Jack Mariano. “1900 acres of preserved land, which slows down traffic and protects wildlife.”

Sitting north of Land O’ Lakes, it includes the entire Conner Preserve to Crossbar Ecological Corridor, connecting to Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Conner Preserve to the south and Pinellas County’s Crossbar/Al Bar Ranch to the north.

Purchasing 4G Ranch includes:
  • Allowing a natural linkage for wildlife movement and plant dispersal
  • Preserving countless ecosystem services
  • Reducing wildlife crashes with undercrossing built by Florida Department of Transportation on State Road 52

“This partnership to permanently protect 4G Ranch from development is a perfect example of what can be accomplished when state government, local government, and private landowners work together toward a common goal,” said Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson. “By preserving 4G Ranch, we are safeguarding productive agricultural land, protecting our natural resources, and ensuring that future generations can enjoy the rural way of life that makes Pasco County and Florida so special.”
