Temporary Closure of 6th Avenue for South Avenue Extension Project

As part of the City of Zephyrhills - Government's continued investment in infrastructure, the South Avenue Extension Project is set to begin this month, resulting in a temporary closure of 6th Avenue.

Beginning on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, 6th Avenue - between Chancey Road to 20th Street - will be closed to thru traffic for approximately 30 days, with a reopening scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025.

Local residents will continue to have access, but detour routes must be followed for all other traffic.

This closure will allow crews to safely complete construction to extend the north roadway to South Avenue approximately 1,600 linear feet, located at the intersection of South Avenue and 6th Avenue. The extension includes new pavement, striping, utility work, and the installation of a stormwater management system.

Digital message boards will be in place by the end of this week to notify drivers and ensure a safe transition during construction.
