"Great Trilby Fire"-100th Anniversary This Week
Meet at the Trilby trailhead of the Withlacoochee State Trail (immediately west of the Trilby Post Office on County Road 575) this Saturday morning, May 31 2025, at 10:00, in observance of the "Great Trilby Fire" which destroyed much of downtown Trilby on May 29, 1925 and forever altered the town's future prospects.
Scott Black will lead a walk southward down the trail to the old townsite and tell about the importance of the railroad to the community and events leading up to and following that fateful day in Trilby history. The walk-and-talk will last about an hour and there will be a period for questions at the end. Feel free to bring along an easy-to-carry folding chair for some of our stops along the way.
