SUMMARY:Civil War Camp Life: A Living History Event
DESCRIPTION:What: Explore a Civil War soldier's day-to-day life. The average Civil War soldier saw just 3 days of combat in 9 months. This event will feature a semi-permanent camp with canvas tents\, hosted by the 7th Florida\, Company K and an "on the march" camp presented by members of the Liberty Guards. The camps will feature what filled a soldier's life when not in combat. Experience what they did to pass the time like writing letters home\, gambling\, whittling as well as cooking methods\, drilling\, drilling and more drilling. Play a round or two of chuck-a-luck\, like the soldiers of both North and South did during their down time. There will also be historical presentations in the afternoon in the air-conditioned Lockey Tool Room inside the Main Building. *There will not be a battle reenactment. When: 12pm to 5pm\, July 24 (Saturday) Where: The Pioneer Florida Museum & Village   15602 Pioneer Museum Rd. in Dade City Presentations for the afternoon (starting at 2pm) include:   The 2nd Florida Cavalry US (a Florida regiment comprised of Floridians that served the Union)   Henry Crane (a Tampa resident and period photographer turned Union scout\, raider and Captain of Company A\, 2nd Florida Cavalry US)   The 7th Florida Infantry Regiment in the Army of Tennessee   William Michael Hope (a Confederate soldier from the Cedar Key area that ended up with the 6th Florida Battalion and fought at Olustee) 352-567-0262 www.pioneerfloridamuseum.org pfmfrontdesk@gmail.com
